Meet the Barbarians!
Bert
Bert used to be known as "Bert the Bone-Crusher" in his village. He was really good at yelling, throwing boulders, and eating entire roast chickens in one bite! But then something crazy happened. During a raid, Bert found a magical place called a "library." At first, he thought the books were just for sitting on or using as shields. But when he opened one, a whole new world popped out!
Now, Bert is on a mission to build the world's first barbarian library. He trades his war paint for reading glasses and his battle cry for "Shhh, please!"
Bert still looks pretty scary. He's got big muscles, a wild beard, and lots of tattoos. But instead of a giant sword, he carries a tote bag full of books. His favorite is "Goodnight Battleaxe."
Teaching other barbarians to read isn't easy. He often says, "Reading is like working out, but for your brain-muscles!" just before ducking a roast chicken thrown at him.
But, after a hard day of raiding and plundering, they do love listening to his stories around the campfire.
When he's not reading, Bert likes to rearrange the books in his library. He's always coming up with new and interesting ways of organising them.
So, if you ever hear someone whisper-shouting "QUIET IN THE LIBRARY!" in a voice that shakes the trees, that's probably just Bert, doing what he loves!
